When and why Constitution Day is celebrated in India?

Constitution Day -26 November is celebrated as Constitution Day across the country. To promote constitutional values, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment had decided to celebrate Constitution Day. Let us tell you that National Constitution Day is also known as National Law Day and Indian Constitution Day. So let’s know the whole story from its introduction till it was written and implemented.

The Constituent Assembly of the country duly adopted the present Constitution on 26 November 1949. However, two months after accepting it, ie on 26 January 1950, it was implemented. Because of this, November 26 is celebrated as Constitution Day.

Why is Constitution Day celebrated?

To promote constitutional values, the Ministry of Social Justice had decided on 19 November 2015 to celebrate 26 November as Constitution Day. Every citizen of the country should be aware of the constitutional values, so this day is celebrated.

On this day the Preamble of the Constitution of India is taught in schools and colleges. Along with this, the specialty and importance of the Constitution of India is also discussed.

Interesting things related to the Indian Constitution

1- In the year 2015, it was decided to celebrate 26 November as Constitution Day. This is also special because this year the 125th birth anniversary of the architect of the Constitution Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was being celebrated.

2- The Indian Constitution is considered the longest written constitution in the world. The constitution of many countries has been adopted in this, hence it is also called ‘Bag of Borrowings’. Many parts of it have been taken from the constitution of UK, USA, Germany, Ireland, Australia, Canada and Japan.

3- The Indian Constitution also mentions the fundamental rights, duties of the citizens, the role of the government, the powers of the PM, the President, the Governor, and the CM.

4- The original copies of the Constitution were not typed or printed. It was handwritten by Prem Narayan Raizada. The constitution is written in calligraphy in italic letters.

5- The original copy of the constitution is 16 inches wide. It has been written on a 22 inch long parchment sheet. There are total 251 pages in it. It took 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to prepare the entire constitution. It was completed on 26 November 1949 and was implemented on 26 January 1950.

6- The original copy of the constitution was written in both Hindi and English languages. It was signed by 284 members in the Constituent Assembly held on January 24, 1950. Of these, 15 were women.

7- There are 395 Articles, 22 Sections and 8 Schedules in the Indian Constitution. However, at present our constitution has 470 articles, 25 sections and 12 schedules as well as 5 appendices.

8- There are a total of 1,45,000 words in the constitution. More than 2000 amendments were made in it before finalizing it.

9- The basic structure of the Indian Constitution is based on the Government of India Act, 1935.

10- Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is called the creator of the Indian Constitution. India’s first Law Minister Dr. Ambedkar was also the chairman of the Constitution Committee.

देश भर में 26 नवंबर संविधान दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है. संवैधानिक मूल्यों को प्रमोट करने के लिए सोशल जस्टिस एंड एम्पावरमेंट मंत्रालय ने संविधान दिवस मनाने का फैसला किया था. बता दें राष्ट्रीय संविधान दिवस को राष्ट्रीय कानून दिवस और भारतीय संविधान दिवस के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. तो आइए जानते हैं इसकी प्रस्तावना से लेकर इसे लिखे जाने और लागू होने तक की पूरी कहानी.

देश की संविधान सभा ने मौजूदा संविधान को विधिवत रूप से 26 नवंबर 1949 को स्वीकार किया था. हालांकि स्वीकार करने के दो महीने बाद यानी 26 जनवरी 1950 को इसे लागू किया गया था. इस वजह से 26 नवंबर को संविधान दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है.

क्यों मनाया जाता है संविधान दिवस?

संवैधानिक मूल्यों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए सामाजिक न्याय मंत्रालय ने 19 नवंबर 2015 को 26 नवंबर के दिन को संविधान दिवस के रूप में मनाने का फैसला किया था. संवैधानिक मूल्यों की जानकारी देश के हर नागरिक को हो, इसलिए इस दिन को मनाया जाता है. इस दिन स्कूल और कॉलेजों में भारत के संविधान की प्रस्तावना को पढ़ाया जाता है. इसके साथ ही भारत के संविधान की विशेषता और महत्व पर भी चर्चा की जाती है.

भारतीय संविधान से जुड़ी दिलचस्प बातें –

1-साल 2015 में 26 नवंबर को संविधान दिवस के रूप में मनाने का फैसला किया गया था. यह खास इसलिए भी है, क्योंकि इसी साल संविधान निर्माता डॉ. भीमराव आंबेडकर की 125वीं जयंती मनाई जा रही थी.

2-भारतीय संविधान को विश्व का सबसे लंबा लिखित संविधान माना जाता है. इसमें कई देशों के संविधान को अपनाया गया है, इसलिए इसे ‘Bag of Borrowings’ भी कहा जाता है. इसके कई हिस्से यूके, अमेरिका , जर्मनी, आयरलैंड, ऑस्ट्रेलिया, कनाडा और जापान के संविधान से लिए गए हैं.

3-भारतीय संविधान में नागरिकों के मौलिक अधिकार, कर्तव्य, सरकार की भूमिका, पीएम, राष्ट्रपति, गवर्नर, और सीएम की शक्तियों का भी जिक्र है.

4-संविधान की मूल प्रतियां टाइप या प्रिंटेड नहीं थी. इसे प्रेम नारायण रायजादा ने हाथ से लिखी थी. संविधान को कैलीग्राफी में इटैलिक अक्षरों में लिखा गया है.

5-संविधान की ओरिजिनल कॉपी 16 इंच चौड़ी है. इसे 22 इंच लंबे प्रैचमेंट शीट पर लिखा गया है. इसमें कुल 251 पेज हैं. पूरा संविधान तैयार करने में 2 साल, 11 महीने और 18 दिन का वक्त लगा था. 26 नवंबर 1949 को यह पूरा हुआ था और 26 जनवरी 1950 को इसे लागू किया गया था.

6-संविधान की असली कॉपी हिंदी और अंग्रेजी, दोनों भाषाओं में लिखी गई थी. 24 जनवरी,1950 को हुए संविधान सभा में 284 सदस्यों ने इस पर हस्ताक्षर किए थे. इनमें 15 महिलाएं शामिल थीं.

7-भारतीय संविधान में 395 अनुच्छेद, 22 खण्ड और 8 अनुसूचियां हैं. हालांकि, इस समय हमारे संविधान में 470 अनुच्छेद, 25 खण्ड और 12 अनुसूचियों के साथ-साथ 5 परिशिष्ट भी हैं.
